Recognize the importance of fire prevention and fire safety.
Apply the fire safety practices in both the hospital and the home.
List the common fire safety hazards to look out for.
Describe what you must do to prevent fire safety hazards.
Apply fire safety practices in both the hospital and the home.

Evaluate a situation where a fire is visible and decide on the appropriate action.
Consider whether fire safety equipment will help and apply the PASS procedures if appropriate.
Describe what you should do in the event of an evacuation and how you should apply the RACE procedures (including horizontal and vertical evacuation techniques).
Explain why fire drills are important.

This course is presented in three modules:

1. Fire Safety & Prevention

This section highlights the importance of fire prevention and fire safety. Within the workplace environment, there needs to be greater awareness of fire hazards. People need to know where the fire safety equipment is and under what conditions it can be used. Increased awareness of fire safety and prevention will help to protect all of us.

2. Evaluating a Situation

This section will enable you to take important decisions in situations where a fire is visible. In a fire, the decisions that are made often mean the difference between life and death. Being prepared and rehearsing the right actions is critical.

3.Evacuation Procedures

After reviewing this section, you will be able to follow the RACE fire evacuation procedure, through four simple steps. You will also undesrtand the importance of fire drills, and the difference they make in life threatening situations.
